Illustration by:Ninette Solis | Staff Photographer Every beauty lover goes through the same thing. We get asked why we wear makeup so much or why it takes so long to get ready in the morning but what is the real reason for “putting your face on?” YouTube beauty pro NikkieTutorials went viral after uploading a #PowerofMakeup video. This video displayed the makeup artist applying makeup to only one side of her face. She explained that makeup critics assume people who wear cosmetics do so because of insecure reasons such as self-hatred or the attention of men.

How to Put a Quote in an Essay

The MLA (Modern Language Association) style of writing requires you to cite the name of the author and the page number when citing quotes in essays. If you're citing poetry, then you'll have to cite the lines of poetry instead of page numbers. Unlike in APA style, you do not have to provide the year the quote was written in the actual body of your essay, though you will need to do so in a detailed references page at the bottom of your essay. 1 Cite short quotations. In MLA style, a short quote is considered anything that is fewer than four typed lines of prose or three lines of poetry.

Peer Pressure: Its Influence on Teens and Decision Making

Say you're sitting around with some friends playing video games and someone mentions a particular game that happens to be one of your favorites. "Oh, that game's easy. So not worth the time," one of your friends says dismissively. The others agree. Inwardly, you know that it is a game you happen to enjoy quite a lot but, outwardly, not wanting to debate the issue, you go along with the crowd. You have just experienced what is commonly referred to as peer pressure. It is probably more accurate to refer to this as peer influence, or social influence to adopt a particular type of behavior, dress, or attitude in order to be accepted as part of a group of your equals ("peers").

Confidentiality

Article Confidentiality is one of the core duties of medical practice. It requires health care providers to keep a patient’s personal health information private unless consent to release the information is provided by the patient. Why is confidentiality important? Patients routinely share personal information with health care providers. If the confidentiality of this information were not protected, trust in the physician-patient relationship would be diminished. Patients would be less likely to share sensitive information, which could negatively impact their care.

Placement of the Topic Sentence | SEA - Supporting English Acquisition

Topic Sentence at the Beginning and the End of the Paragraph Traditionally the topic sentence is the first sentence of the paragraph. In this lead position, it functions to introduce the examples or details which will explain the controlling idea. If the paragraph is meant as a freestanding unit of discourse and not part of a larger whole, the topic sentence, or rather the ideas it contains, are frequently restated at the end of the paragraph. In this position, the restated topic sentence serves as a concluding statement. Such repetition of the topic helps the readers to follow the content of the paragraph, especially if that content is complex in nature.
