             The most severe of all sentences is in fact the death penalty. Also known as capital punishment, it's the most severe form of corporal punishment as it requires law enforcement officers to kill the offender. It has been banned in many countries, in the United States, an earlier move to eliminate capital punishment has now been reversed and more and more states are resorting to capital punishment for serious offenses such as murder. Like they say: An Eye for and eye, or a life for a life as it applies in this case. The Bible mentions it, and people have been using it regularly for centuries.

Home » Essay Prompts » 2014-15 Essay Prompts After a positive response from Common Application member colleges and school counselors, The Common Application will retain the current set of first-year essay prompts for 2014-15, without any edits or additions. The essay length will continue to be capped at 650 words. In February of 2013, The Common Application Board of Directors unveiled five new essay prompts, the first major revision in several years. The prompts were the culmination of several years of discussion about the role writing plays in a holistic selection process and were designed with the assistance of 15 counselors on the association’s Outreach Advisory Committee, who worked diligently to ensure that all applicants, regardless of background or access to counseling, would have the chance to tell their unique stories.

Youth Crime Prevention essays

             Crime prevention is a broad category, encompassing almost all activity undertaken in criminology and criminal justice. Efforts to prevent crime can diverge greatly on the causes of crime and the actions necessary to deter it. Whether preventing a first crime by increasing a youngster's cognitive skills so he can better negotiate conflict, or stemming a criminal career through incarceration, the action is valuable because it prevents crime.              The argument made by the author is that it is not valuable to include under the category "prevention" any and all activity oriented to understanding and affecting crime.

Living with Music

(from the present) I enjoyed reading the book, but maybe because I'm not real informed about jazz literature, I can remember very little about it. Obviously nothing in it struck me as earth-shaking. Invisible Man this isn't. (from the past, notes after reading it) Ellison's fine writing shows through in these music/jazz-related pieces. Curiously the fictional pieces are uneven, some fun, some boring. The interviews and (especially) letters exhibit Ellison as the egomaniac he was. What seemed to m(from the present) I enjoyed reading the book, but maybe because I'm not real informed about jazz literature, I can remember very little about it.
