Mob attempted to attack Mufti Menk calling him a “gustakh e Rasool”

Mufti Ismail Menk was recently attacked by Sufis for sectarian reasons. A group of men attempted to assault prominent Zimbabwean scholar Mufti Ismail Menk, accusing him of being a mocker of the Prophet Muhammad. The incident took place at the Overport City Shopping Centre in KwaZulu-Natal on the evening of Monday 18th August. According to a source, Mufti Menk was at the shopping centre and as he was about to leave, a man who was reportedly a Mawlana (religious teacher) approached his car and asked his son “Is this Ismail Menk”? The “Mawlana” waited for Mufti Menk to get out of his car and told his accomplices in Urdu: “This is the guy.

Secretary-General Appoints El Ghassim Wane of Mauritania Assistant Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations | Meetings Coverage and Press Releases

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today announced the appointment of El Ghassim Wane of Mauritania as Assistant Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations.   He will succeed Edmond Mulet of Guatemala, whom the Secretary-General has appointed as his Chef de Cabinet.   The Secretary-General reiterates his deep gratitude and appreciation for Mr. Mulet’s dedicated service in his former position. Career W. E. B. Du Bois accepted a teaching job at Wilberforce University in Ohio where he became acquainted with Alexander Crummell, who believed that ideas and morals are necessary tools to effect social change. From Wilberforce he moved to the University of Pennsylvania as an "assistant in sociology" in 1896 and performed sociological field research in Philadelphia's African-American neighborhoods. He became a professor of history and economics at the Atlanta University in Georgia in 1897. There he published the first case study of an African-American community, ‘The Philadelphia Negro: A Social Study’ (1899), which was based on the field work he did in 1896–1897.

Bijan Pakzad, the ritzy fashion designer whose by-appointment-only Rodeo Drive boutique is billed as ''the most expensive store in the world,'' died on Saturday in Los Angeles. He was 71. Mr. Pakzad had a stroke on Thursday and was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, his company said in a statement. Mr. Pakzad -- or simply Bijan, as he preferred to be known -- unabashedly promoted the opulence of his glamorous life, his stores and his clientele.
